Giraffe Hall
The countdown has begun to the most sensational and unique accommodation opening in the UK at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve.
Get closer than ever before and make friends with your giraffe neighbours, as the resident herd amble past the lofty ceilinged drawing room, or up to the bedroom windows.
A sweeping driveway opens out into the historic courtyard of the 15th century Wealden hall house. The fully restored Giraffe Hall and landscaped gardens will blend seamlessly with the surrounding Kent countryside and exotic wildlife roaming the plains below.
After a day of exploring the 600 acre reserve, you'll be able to relax amongst the traditional decor of an English stately home or enjoy the panoramic views of the African Experience from the cabana style seating area in the manicured gardens.
A short starlit walk away, you'll find the Lapa restaurant serving an African inspired buffet and brai, cooked on the open firepit. Alternatively, you can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine, fine dining or family favourites at our restaurants within the reserve.
All our restaurants take great pride in sourcing the finest quality local ingredients. Seasonal vegetables are picked fresh from our market garden near Howletts, while Kent artisans deliver delicious dairy, meats and fish. Being in the heart of English wine country, local wines and Kentish brews wonderfully compliment our tasty dishes.
Accommodation
The lovingly restored Grade II listed house will host 10 bedrooms, with a further 5 luxury cabins nestled within the grounds. The interiors, designed by Victoria Aspinall, will retain many of the original features for the perfect blend of traditional charm and safari adventure.
The gardens
The sympathetic restoration also extends to the grounds, where a natural amphitheatre will offer a seating area for guests to get a little closer and watch the giraffes amble by. Our expert ranger team will be on hand to chat with guests about our conservation work in Africa and around the world. A canopied social area will provide the perfect spot to marvel at the abundant wildlife roaming freely on the 100 acres of Kentish wilderness below and watch the sun dip beneath the horizon at the coast.
A little piece of history
Originally part of the Port Lympne estate, the house was extended by Philip Sassoon to add two further sections, during a full renovation carried out in 1920 by H. Charlton Bradshaw. Sassoon was Member of Parliament for Hythe and Private Secretary for Field Marshal Haig during WW1. He famously used the estate as his country weekend retreat, entertaining guests including Winston Churchill, Lawrence of Arabia and Charlie Chaplin.
