We currently have a fantastic opportunity to recruit a Ranger to join our well-established team on a fixed term basis at Port Lympne Hotel and reserve and Howletts Wild Animal Park. Please note that, whilst this position is primarily based at Port Lympne, there will be times where traveling to Howletts Wild Animal Park will be required.
Amongst your daily occupations, you will run guided daily safaris using game viewing Land Rovers, deliver educational talks to school groups, visitors, and guests, facilitate animal encounters, assist with queries from guests, taking bookings for safaris and animal experiences and help other departments when required. This will include working alongside Keepers across all our animal sections as and when needed.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a proactive and passionate individual who will be exited about the opportunity to not only work amongst animals but also assist on our mission to create “memorable experiences that matter”. The ideal candidate will hold a conservation related degree, or have 1+ year experience guiding guests in the outdoors ,as well as exceptional customer service experience. In addition, they must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, engaging with a wide variety of groups, with a drive to educate.
We will also be looking for candidates with excellent knowledge of conservation issues and endangered species worldwide, excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Some level of experience with sales and the use of computer software will be desirable. A valid UK driving licence is essential, and you will need a reliable form of transport due to our remote location.
Contract details:
This is a fixed term contract through to the 2 November 2025. Rate of pay will increase in April 2025. This contract may be made permanent dependant on the business needs. Working hours are 45 hours per week covering shifts over five days a week, shift times may vary with either early start or late finish. This can include weekends and Bank Holidays. Please note that, whilst this position is primarily based at Port Lympne, there will be times where traveling to Howletts Wild Animal Park will be required. All applicants must have right to work in the UK. A reliable mode of transport is recommended due to our remote location.
