Re-opening 1st May 2023
Award-winning getaways for animal lovers
Deep in the heart of the Kentish savannah, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the animals are grazing quietly as tented structures begin to appear at the skyline...
As well as being a time for growth and new life, spring also heralds the re-opening of the ever-popular Giraffe Lodge at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve. Overlooking the watering hole, with sweeping views of 100 acres of Kentish wilderness dotted with meandering herds of giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, ostriches and many more iconic African animals, Giraffe Lodge is an animal-lover's dream getaway.

Imagine sitting on the balcony of your luxury glamping tent, sipping a cocktail as the sun sets on the spectacle of iconic African wildlife visiting the watering hole before settling down for the night.
The Giraffes
Our tower of giraffes consists of eight individuals, our ‘big boys’; Cillian and Sebastian, who are hybrids and our breeding group of Nubian giraffes; Valentino (Dad), Lunar (Mum), Lehana (Mum), Mwezi, Bokora and Kianga. The girls are very much in-charge of the group and the rest follow to wherever they want to go.
The Rhino
One of Africa's 'Big Five' the black rhinoceros is an unmissable sight. For a large animal they are surprisingly light on their feet, so do keep a look out for Kasungu - you probably won't hear him passing by despite him weighing around a tonne!
The Zebras
Chapman's zebra stallion, Cumin, can be seen grazing with his dazzle of ladies, Gwendoline, Harriet and Sophie. Did you know that zebras have black skin, so they are in fact black with white stripes - answering the age old question!
The Ostriches
No safari experience is complete without a glimpse of the world's largest birds! Ostriches are flightless so you're sure to spot our two males wandering amongst the herds of antelope.
