Don't miss out this bank holiday weekend
Make the most of this August Bank Holiday weekend with an unforgettable visit to Port Lympne Reserve, where adventure and nature come together in spectacular ways.
With fact-filled keeper talks, plus play areas, stunning views and a variety of food and drink options, there’s something for everyone at Port Lympne Reserve.
And if that wasn't enough, we've come up with five must-see highlights that will make your trip truly special...
1. Witness the majestic giraffes up close on a thrilling safari
Did you know? Port Lympne Reserve is home to Kent's largest 'tower' of giraffes! Will you spot all 9 of our beautiful giraffes that roam the 100 acre African Experience, when you head out on your safari truck adventure - included in your admission ticket!
2. Take in the breathtaking views from the mansion terraces
Take a break from exploring the 600 acre reserve to relax and enjoy the views of the 14 acres of landscaped gardens from the terraces surrounding the historic mansion. Order a coffee or garden-inspired cocktail from the hotel bar, sit back and soak up the sun and serenity of the surrounding countryside.
3. Catch a glimpse of Oudrika the lioness and her adorable cubs sunbathing in the warm sun
Number 3 on our list is a visit to Europe's largest lion enclosure to see the majestic Port Lympne Pride. Hunter, Oudrika and their 2 cubs Amali and Jamila born in March this year, as well as Oudrika's 3 girls from a previous litter, Kulinda, Binti and Mila, can be seen sunning themselves atop their favourite rocky outcrop in the 8 acre paddock.
4. Don’t miss the playful orangutans swinging through their enclosure
16 year old Hadjah and his playful brother, Malou have stolen our hearts since they arrived at the reserve in March this year. Hadjah and Malou are the only Sumatran orangutans in Kent. Although the ultimate goal for Hadjah and Malou will be to eventually rewild them if possible, we are happy to offer them the sanctuary they deserve and we hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoy caring for them.
5. See our brown bear family cooling off in their swimming hole
Summer is a great time to see our brown bear family before they go into their winter torpor (a lighter state of sleep than hibernation, to conserve energy in the winter). Julio, Encam, their daughter Neu and their two sons, Rojo & Tornillo, can often be seen splashing around and playing in their pond together on a sunny day.
With so much to see and do this August bank holiday weekend, Port Lympne Reserve is the perfect destination for a memorable summer day out!
