Antilope cervicapra
Found on the plains and open woodland of India. The name blackbuck comes from the adult male having a dense black coloured coat, the females coat is a light tan colour. Blackbuck can often be seen to pronk, this is a form of running that involves a very high jump and it is thought to be a way of avoiding predators. Blackbuck often run in a long line when they are pronking and appear to be synchronised.
