IUCN STATUS: Least Concern
Lynx lynx lynx
One of a number of subspecies of Eurasian Lynx. Mainly found in coniferous forests or thick woodland, they were almost hunted to extinction although have recently been reintroduced into European countries, such as Switzerland, France and Germany.
They are powerful, stealthy hunters that rely on the element of surprise to catch their prey, they are known to jump up to 2m in the air to catch birds. Their coat can range from a sandy-grey to rusty-red colour with indistinct spots, this coat during the winter months gets denser to help keep them warm.
