Acinonyx jubatus
These beautiful cats are found primarily in open grassy habitats, but also make use of dry forests, savannah woodland and semi desert. Cheetah are built for speed with their slender bodies, powerful legs, deep chests and flexible spines they can reach speeds of up to 70 mph but only in short bursts.They are the fastest land animals on the planet, and at top speed they will use their tail as a rudder to help steer themselves. Cheetah can have up to five cubs and they live for up to 15 years.
